Side A: On The Beach 2.58 ( M. Leigh )
Side B: Livin' Alone 2.40 ( M. Leigh )
Here's little story about this '7-single also. Single was released 1979
and then THE RATTLERS were Joey's brother MITCH LEIGH: guitar, MATTY
QUICK: drums and DAVID MERRILL: bass.
They started out as BIRDLAND
with
rock critic & Creem Magazine contributor LESTER BANGS on vocals. When
Lester's cough syrup habit started costing them more than they could earn
at gigs, he was out, and the trio took over on vocals, with Mitch handling
lead vocals. When it came time for this their first record, JOEY RAMONE
came in to sing on "On The Beach". They could have asked for Dave the bass
player's dad to come in for the session, since he is the Metropolitan
Opera star ROBERT MERRILL, but Joey was able to provide some great eye
catching 'Horror Of Party Beach' Bettie Page inspired artwork for the
picture sleeve, so he got the gig.
