SEVEN PAGES OF PHOTO COLLAGES:
Joey Ramone Birthday Bash is organized every year in May 19, after our Joey passed away on April 15, 2001.
In this page and in next four pages you will find photo collages taken by me and details from Joey Ramone Birthday Bash 2014 at The Bowery Electric in New York on May 19, 2014. And in sixth page you will find photos from Sapo Ramone's photo archive of the Bash 2014. Sapo is a fan from Argentina. And in seventh page you can see few photos from my trip in Guatemala. I traveled to Guatemala after Birthday Bash.
Before Joey Ramone Birthday Bash 2014, I was in CJ Ramone's two shows in Montreal (Canada) and in Pittsfield (MA, USA) on May 17-18, 2014. See
photos and story of those shows here.

JOEY RAMONE BIRTHDAY BASH 2014:

Joey Ramone Friends band was featuring this year Cheetah Chrome (The Dead Boys), Glen Matlock (ex-Sex Pistols, The Philistines etc.), George Tabb (Furious George), Joey Ramone's brother Mickey Leigh, Walt Stack (The Bullys), Pat Carpenter, David Merrill, Emily H. Brout, Arno Hecht, Sic F*cks/ Tish & Snooky....
Sean O'Sullivan's Punk Pipers did play Happy Birthday for Joey Ramone, as usual. That is a great tradition.

Emily H. Brout was first singer in Joey Ramone Friends set. Players were Walt Stack (guitar), David Merrill (bass) and Pat Carpenter (drums). Merrill and Mickey Leigh were playing together already in The Rattlers formed in 1979. Mickey has wanted to give opportunities to young artists and Emily H. Brout was that kind of musician. She had a beautiful voice. Emily was really shy when singing She Talks To Rainbows. You can read in the end of this page my little interview with Emily. Joey Ramone wrote She Talks To Rainbows to Ramones' album Adios Amigos. Joey also did it in his solo career, and as well he and Daniel Rey produced and recorded it together with Ronnie Spector.

George Tabb sang Wart Hog and I Just Want To Have Something To Do. I was impressed how raw Tabb sang Wart Hog. It really had feelings how rough Dee Dee Ramone or Richie Ramone would sing it. Attitude was there. Also in I Just Want To Have Something To Do his voice was more hard than in normal. Maybe he had flu?
I got lively feelings from Furious George: Goes Ape! EP and its Betty Krocker, Punk Rocker song what features Dee Dee. I have known with George Tabb from since around 1995. I was also promoting a lot Furious George's Get's A Record album, on it Joey sing great vocals on funny song called Gilligan. George wrote nice text to my first book Heaven Needed A Lead Singer: Fans Remember Joey Ramone, which you can also find on Interpunk here. In a book George is for example remembering times when Ramones guitar roadie Matt Lolya retired, and George was new roadie, but after 3 shows George was replaced.

Next we also got to see in action Cheetah Chrome. Third song he performed in Joey Ramone Friends set was Glad To See You Go. Fourth was KKK Took My Baby Away and then also Arno Hecht stepped on stage and his saxophone playing brought nice new elements to music. I like a lot of listening his playing.
As I did mention in first page, Cheetah Chrome wasn't treated well this year and it is reason why he wasn't in best feelings as you can see from photos in page one. No more about that...

As I wrote before, Mickey is supportive to new bands and artists. And The Accelerators was chosen to play after a contest. Here are comments by Emily H. Brout who sang She Talks To Rainbows.
- Mickey asked me because he is an awesomely supportive human being. This was actually the third time I did the Joey Ramone Birthday Bash, the first was few years ago with my band The Indecent (2012). I think we got it through our then manager, and being the kind human Mickey is, he invited me the following year and now. I obviously said yes, I mean how could I not?, explained Emily H. Brout.
- Much like the last time I was extremely nervous, excited, and super grateful. I am generally confused and surprised when people reach out to me instead of me to them. I hate asking for things because I am shy when it comes to that sort of thing; and I am not saying this to portray some sort of contrived modest mentality, so I hope it does not come off that way. Everyone I have met playing it has been super sweet and this time I saw a lot of now familiar faces so I was really comfortable on stage, Emily did continue telling her thoughs.
So The Indecent played at the Joey Ramone Birthday Bash in 2012. You can see photos and story from 2012 here.
Emily, how you chose now to sing She Talks To Rainbows?
- As for the pick of She Talks To Rainbows, my Guru Tim Sommer recommended that I do it and Mickey was into it so that was that, Emily told.
