This picture in left is from
UP Magazine's (Netherlands) UP Sampler #18
CD cover by Vince Ruarus. It's (meant positive way) an artist impression
of our heroes. That UP Magazine contains interviews for example with
Social Distortion and Green Day. Another music magazine from Netherlands
contains interview with Marky Ramone, Marky in Heaven! But it IS true:
there's a 2-page article in
Heaven #1 2005 - the
interview Bram van Schaik did last September with Marky, the day Johnny
passed away.... It's titled: Marky Ramone, Faith in the backbeat (leant
the
book title from him but Bram gives him credits too) and there's a picture
of Marky in the orange Holland T-shirt. (December 19,
2004)
- Do you wanna win Marky Ramone & The SpeedKings Ride Tonight 7" signed by
the whole band during the tour in 2001? You will be sure they're real

query, some questions aren't not-so-easy. Click here to see
competion. Competition will be open until 8th of December. You'll
win as well some other prizes. Btw,
remember to check also Woimasointu site and buy some cool
stuff there!!! (December 2, 2004)
- VH1 channel program 100 Cheesetastic Video Tricks Exposed was a
three-hour journey exploring the 100 most memorable, ridiculous,
hilarious, obvious (and not so obvious) clichés that have been around
since the birth of the music video. From hot chicks as hood ornaments to
street fights that erupt into dance-offs, smoke machines to spraying 40
ounces, the world of music videos is nothing if not cliché... Great and
funny Ramones video Psycho Therapy was #78. Also Rock'N'Roll High School
was in scenes. (November 30, 2004)
- Here comes some CD news by bands who have made so many Ramones fans
happy. Fraebbblarnir

contains Heaven Needed A Lead Singer song, naturally tribute to our dear
Joey Ramone. It's also released in Life's A Gas tributeCD by
AMP Records.
Dót contains 16 songs, some of them are by Iceland language, cool language
to listen. Dót is manysided CD to listen, songs are mostly punkrock with
good attitude and feelings. Fraebbblarnir were formed in Iceland 1978 and
released a number of records until they quit early 1983. In 1996 the
original name was reinstated.
Grolschbusters hails from
Netherlands, they toured lot for example with Marky Ramone & The
SpeedKings! Also did with The Vietcongs Life's A Gas tour in Spain, 2002,
tour was dedicated to Joey Ramone.
Grolschbusters just released their fourth full-lenght album
called: Rock 'n' Roll, Asshole! Band has punkrocked already 15 years! And
now they offer thirteen songs with tight attitude, listen or ...?

South release a new album (Golddiggas, Headnodders &
Pholk Songs) of covers on October 25th and
Blitzkrieg Bop is on it. It's pretty surprising version, it's 3 minutes 30
seconds and tempo is all the time pretty slow. Alison Wheeler's lovely
voice and acoustic guitars makes it sounding beautiful. AND it was
surprise to see that there's a photo
of Johnny on the front cover! Inside booklet on Ramones pages is snack bar
named Joey's Snack Bar and in the wall is Road To Ruin tour poster etc. It
contains as well covers like This Will Be Our Year (The Zombies), Don't

Tampere International Film Festival also organised extra screenings.
It was great news for many fans.
Lech Kowalski also arrived to Tampere Film Festival, originally he was
taking
part to discussion of subject "Documentmovie today" with some other people
at Tyovaen Keskusmuseo Werstas, Auditorio Vaino, Vaino Linnan Aukio 8 in
Friday March 5, 2004, 2:00PM. But he couldn't make it, and March 5 he did

- There's Ramones cover versions in so many releases, but again I wanna
mention of couple new cool releases. Outsider Records (Italy) released new
Manges single. A-side Barrage Of Hate is taken from the Queers/ Manges
split album AcidBeaters on Stardumb/ Ammonia Records. Manges is
traditional and well-respected Ramones-oriented band. Barrage Of Hate
contains attitude, but also legendary Ramoniac line "Second verse, same as
the first". B-side (with Mickey Mouse picture on vinyl center) is Ramones
cover Havana Affair. Manges does their version with little heavier sound,
but with same tempo. Single also contains "booklet paper" with
cartoon picture of Dee Dee. Single is limited to 750 copies and you ask
it from outsiderrec@libero.it or send 7 euros well hidden to address:
Enrico Camanzi, Via Moroni 7A, 20099 Sesto San Giovanni (MI), Italy.
My friend Karolina Lamroth sent to me CD of Moottorinjyrinää.
Moottorinjyrinää does kindergarten versions of punk- and heavy
songs in Finnish and they've done gigs in kindergartens with great
success!
CD also contains covers of Ramones' Pet Sematary (Erkki) and
Motörhead's R.A.M.O.N.E.S. (L-E-N-T-Ä-J-Ä).
They sing in example on Erkki: "My name is Erkki and I've got stamp, I
wanna write a letter.... I know where to get paper and I know how sharpen
pen, but I can't write or read... " (February 26, 2004)

performing later that night at Continental.
Front cover is by legendary John Holmstrom.
"Monte A. Melnick, the Ramones' road manager throughout the punk
pioneers' career, is writing a memoir about the experience, to be
published by Sanctuary Books in November. Co-writing is Frank Meyers, a
veteran rock journalist who was also the leader of the L.A.-based band the
Streetwalkin' Cheetahs. "The book is basically on the road with the
Ramones, looking at the group through Monte's eyes," says Meyers. "He was
the one stable force in an insane band."
A few episodes:
- Dee Dee overdosed on pills and booze one night during the filming of
"Rock 'n' Roll High School" and was taken away in a police car - and still
made his call time on the set the next morning.
- Joey suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder, and Ramones
activities were sometimes governed by his ritualistic behavior.
- A Secret Service detail made for odd backstage visitors when first
daughter Amy Carter attended a Ramones show and was taken to meet the
band.
Meyers is complementing Melnick's narrative with material from his
interviews with the band members, wives, girlfriends, producers, managers
and others.

- The Ramones version of My Back Pages appears in the new Bob Dylan
movie Masked And Anonymous. I also read that it should be in a soundtrack,
but it wasn't in a soundtrack listing/version I saw. Masked And Anonymous
is
an independent film. There are many layers and references in this movie,
the New York Times is called it both an inchorent mess and possibly a
masterpiece. (August 20, 2003).
- King Biscuit releases on August 19, 2003 new Ramones live CD called
Live NYC. It's recorded at the Palladium, New York, January 7, 1978. It
contains 27 songs.

- New Groovie
Ghoulies album Monster Club was released some weeks ago on
Stardumb
Records in the Netherlands. The U.S. version of the album is
scheduled for release by Springman Records on August 12, 2003. Album
contains one Ramones song: Pet Sematary.
Also Morrissey (Smiths) has covered Ramones. Morrissey's new album called
Under The Influence contains Judy Is A Punk.
I forgot to add info before that latest liveCD - Live From Murder Beach
- by Independents contains Cretin
Hop and Blitzkrieg Bop. It was released by AMP Records. Joey Ramone was
manager of the Independents. Still fuckin' we remember!
(Updated August 8, 2003)
- German band called Sonic Dolls just released a cool new 7" limited to
only 333 copies! It's really similar to first Ramones single. Wow. Single
contains 2 Ramones songs Blitzkrieg Bop and Havana Affair. So also artwork
is really similar to the original 7' (contains the misspelling of the
title what was there on the original 7" cover too). This is available
only on some stories, like Stardumb Records.
Can you imagine how quickly this is soldout?

- Henry Rollins and
his band are currently touring and performing the songs of Black Flag to
benefit the West
Memphis 3 defense fund.
Photographer Willy-Jan van Gemert saw Henry Rollins show in Amsterdam
at Paradiso on July 8. Willy-Jan wrote: " After their normal setlist with,
between opening song Rise Above and closing tune My War, an ultimate
collection of Black Flag songs, they played a 3 song encore which began
with the Ramones classic Rockaway Beach followed by another Ramones hymn
Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment. The audience went nuts and everybody seemed
to know the 2 songs by word! PARADISO looked and sounded like
PUNKHEAVEN..".
I saw week later Henry Rollins here in Finland and I got chance to do
probably only interview he gave here. It comes to my next Ramones
books. Henry played 4 Ramones songs (yeah) on encore: Gimme Gimme Shock
Treatment, Time Bomb, Sheena Is A Punkrocker ja Rockaway Beach. (Updated

shows
will come from DISCIPLES (featuring former members of D-GENERATION and THE

Christian has emailed me about his band which features also Todd Youth

album We're A Happy Family together. Release date was postponed many
times, but final one was February, 11, 2003.
We're a Happy Family entered the US Billboard album charts at #43.
This album contains some bands, which aren't so Ramoniac ones, but...
- The Ramones are the greatest American band. I just think that what they
did was so simple and so stripped down and so to-the-point that you can't
mess with it. We were trying to get the tribute album out on the one-year
anniversary of Joey's death, April 15, but at the same time, we didn't
wanted to put it out until it's perfect, says Zombie.
The booklet is by Zombie and features many never seen photos of the
Ramones. Stephen King wrote sleeve notes.
Metallica was trained 8 Ramones song before they choosed 53rd And 3rd.
The first 100,000 copies of the album will have a bonus track, "Daytime

6:30 pm. Show was called: We're a Happy Family - a Tribute to the Ramones.

songs on the new CD plus Ramones videos and clips etc. Also was supposed

- Some days ago Spin-magazine named the 50 greatest bands.
The criteria for the 50 greatest were that "these groups had to have a
roof-raising, history-changing sound, presence or hairstyle." In addition,
"they also had to clearly influence today's music in undeniable ways" and
"had to be bands that we care about deeply."
Marc Spitz from Spin told: " Punk exists because of the false
assumption that the Ramones can be imitated. "1-2-3-4!" Three chords.
"Second verse, same as the first." Technically speaking, it's simple.
Legend has it that in every city where the Ramones played in support of
their 1976 debut, a handful of punk kids started up bands, thinking that
they could do it, too. But the Ramones' loud, fast style masked a pop
genius. Slow their tempos, and you have got Beach Boys melodies. Replace
lyrics about sniffing glue and eating refried beans, and you have got the
Ronettes. Give everyone matching leather jackets, and you have got the
punk rock Beatles. Just four lads from Queens who birthed thousands of
bands, then blew each one away. Like sharks, they didn't evolve. They
didn't need to.
HERE IS TOP10: 1. THE BEATLES, 2. RAMONES, 3. LED ZEPPELIN, 4. BOB MARLEY
& THE WAILERS, 5. NIRVANA, 6. PARLIAMENT/FUNKADELIC, 7. THE CLASH, 8.
PUBLIC ENEMY, 9. THE ROLLING STONES, 10. BEASTIE BOYS. (January 14,
2002)

- I think this news is cool and because the Joey... Many national
currencys are changed for Euro in Europe. In future these national
currencys will lost their value. In Irish cinemas, before the
movie begins, there's a promotional message about giving the old coins
away
for charity to an association against cancer. The music in background is
Blitzkrieg bop. (January 8, 2002)
- Q Magazine in the UK features a great account of the Ramones London
debut at Roundhouse in 1976. (January 7, 2002)
- January issue of a French Magazine called "ROCK & FOLK" hit the stores
December 15, 2001. Issue is dedicated to the Ramones and contains a

- VH-1 choiced the "Top 50 Hard Rock Artists Of All Time" -listing. The
Ramones were Number 17 on the list. Pretty good, beating out even the
Rolling Stones. Weird list included everyone from Van Halen to the Sex
Pistols to Led Zeppelin (who came in at Number 1). I wasn't heard before
of that listing. It was shown last week, but it contained copyright from
year 2000. (December 5th, 2001)
- On sale on the 6th of December is the UK magazine Uncut. It has every

the shaped CD and 7" cost $5.- plus postage ($4.- Europe, $6.- world

- Don't be surprised if you hear many times I Wanna Be Sedated on US-TV.
"Scrubs"-show finally premiered on NBC television network. Sadly I Wanna
Be Sedated is not the theme song, but it may appear at sometime in the
future. The advertisement still plays I Wanna Be Sedated as
background/theme music. The show appears to be a comedy series about young
doctors just out of medical school. I heard that it's a pretty good show;
but since about 90% of new fall shows get cancelled at some point, it's
anybody's guess as to whether or not it will succeed. So, people in the
USA, watch it! It is on Tuesdays on NBC, at 8:30pm, after "Frasier".
Also The Ramones song Judy Is a Punk can be heard in the trailers for the
upcoming film "The Royal Tenenbaums". It is scheduled for release on
Christmas Day, December 25th, and stars an impressive cast including: Gene
Hackman, Anjelica Huston, Bill Murray, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Stiller, Danny
Glover, and Luke Wilson. You can
view/ listen the trailer clicking here. A word of warning for those
viewing the trailer: it begins with a Simon &
Garfunkel song before segue-ing into "Judy Is A Punk".
(Updated info October 10th, 2001).
- Again great and pretty big bands are recorded Ramones-covers. Example
Therapy? (Ireland) has recorded a version of the Gimme Gimme Shock

Also Therapy? plays GGST at live. Therapy?'s new album Shameless also
contains
track Joey, what is dedicated to Joey Ramone and Joey Dunlop.
Rammstein just
released a new single Ich Will. It contains also Pet Sematary (released
in Europe only). Before on this summer CJ, Marky and Jerry Only (Misfits)
got up to stage and did a
Pet Sematary with Rammstein (check older news). The Burnouts (Denmark) recorded
Carbona Not Glue for their second album Close To Breakevil. It comes out
October 29 through Bad Afro. The Burnouts is

number 10. First is Sex Pistols -single God Save The Queen.
There's also vote, who was the best punk band? It means, best punk band in
England. Sure everybody knows, that Ramones is the best!!!!

- I've known this some months already, but now it is time to tell...
Ramones is nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The list of voters
has about 1000 names and it's secret. It has a lot of record company
executives and music industry types like managers, agents, etc., who
obviously vote for their own interest. Let's do, what Ramones deserve...

-
Friday night Sept. 7 was MTV's Video Music Awards at New York City's
Metropolitan Opera House. It was fuckin' stupid that
there was a tribute to the Aaliyah, but not for Joey.... But U2's Bono
nicely did a mention of the Ramones when U2 won Video Vanguard -award.
Bono: "We love New York City... New York City has given us a lot of
things, but the best thing it ever gave us was a punkrock group called the
Ramones, without whom a lot of people would never have gotten started,
certainly us and they lost Joey Ramone, and I would like to give an award
to the remaining Ramones, who are going to appear in a very un-punk-rock
situation right now. "
Then started Blitzkrieg Bop and Marky, CJ and Johnny (in Elvis shades)
came to the stage. Then U2 gave their award to the Marky, CJ and Johnny
and helped that way pay tribute to Joey. Then fuckin' MTV went to a quick
commercial break.. They didnt even let the Ramones speak or say thank you
or anything.. They totally disrespected them.
CJ told that, at MTV's request they were told to say nothing because
apparently Joey used to bash MTV. (Joey told many times true things like:
MTV sucks. And things what they deserve). Obviously MTV held a grudge. CJ
also stressed it was Bono - NOT MTV - that gave The Ramones the award. CJ
wanted to dedicate the award to Joey, and to stress that commercial
success isn't what it's all about, its so much more.
A few of the people interviewed on the post-show mentioned the
Ramones -appearance as the highlight of the show, one was one of the MTV
DJ's, named Ian and the other was Sofia Coppola, who was there
being interviewed with Spike Jonze who won a director's award.
My friends, Arturo added
photos and Winny Kas added
video of
this happening
to his homepage. (Updated September 14, 2001)

legendary Blank Generation about the "no wave" music scene in NYC from
1976. The Pioneer is at 155 East 3rd St, between Avenue A & B,

special issue tribute to Joey Ramone. Magazine was out June 15th and it
will cost 12000italian lira (5-5.5$).
Magazine contains many things from my page and infos were used without
my permission. At first I was really angry to see that many
special listings on Discography-section are from me or based to my
infos on this my site, like Joey-discography listing,
Ramones-bootleg singles listing, movie-infos etc. Many are straight
copies from my
site and from my words, like Talkin'

years boy was helped Luca Frazzi, who is other maincomposer of the mag.
Luca didn't knew that this kid was stole infos me. Luca Frazzi is
a great guy and he was really sorry of this what happened.

from Italy like (OBS!, 90% WITH
ITALIAN-LANGUAGE): first articles, first
tour and all concerts, history of the fan club, discography, press
reviews, wishes and messages for Joey and also Joey's 50th birthday party
review... etc. First Italian-tour was in 1980 and from that tour mag
contains interview with all four. Also story of the concert in
Rainbow, London, February, 1978. Magazine is full of pictures but most of
them you've seen already.... Also this Metallic Ko -issue contains a CD
